Teamworks-Acton (formerly Acton Indoor Sports), in coordination with renowned Boston-area coaches, will host a four day program focused upon building fundamental skills for area youth rugby players (Under 19 years of age). Each three-hour long clinic will consist of a specialized “focus” in both forward and back components of play. Forward-focused clinics will consist of rucking, mauling, ball presentation and security, and general “pack” movement while back line-focused clinics will consist of ball handling drills, back line structure and play, and passing accuracy while under defensive pressure. The camp will be “all inclusive” with typical backline players involved in forward player drills and vice versa. While individual skill development and improvement will be the ultimate goal of the camp, instructors will also encourage players to develop mental confidence, an improved understanding of the laws of the game, and the ability to work with unfamiliar teammates.
Indoor turf reservations have been made for the clinic, which will proceed on February 20th through the 23rd from 9 am to 12 pm. Camp costs are $160 for four, three hour long clinics to occur during February vacation. A $10 membership fee to Teamworks-Acton is included in the camp costs and covers excess medical insurance coverage. The signing of a liability waiver will be required by the parent or guardian prior to attending the camp. Representatives from Rugby Imports will be on site on February 20th to offer discounted prices on balls, jerseys, shorts, and miscellaneous equipment prior to the start of the camp.
